Feeling gloomy because of unfriendly weather?
Don’t be! Brussels has a lot to offer, even on rainy days, the city’s attractions can bring back your smile.
Here are some ideas to do when sky is grey:
Waffles & Hot Chocolate
No matter how many modern cafes are growing, some days like this are irresistible to sit back and enjoy Belgian waffles and hot chocolate at a classic spot. There are plenty of choices to visit, but one of our favorites is Maison Dandoy Tearoom located just few steps away from Grand-Place. While many of Maison Dandoy's branches offer only take away, this branch has a dining area on the second floor where you can feel homey and relaxed.
Cosy Cafés
Looking for inspiration or an informal meeting space? Café Capitale, near the Brussels Stock Exchange (La Bourse), offers a wide range of specialty coffees prepared with manual brewing methods. Recognized by Gault & Millau, it’s also a great spot for enjoying tea and homemade pastries. With its warm vibe and large windows framing the bustling street, this is a favorite spot for young professionals and digital nomads, blending work and leisure in the heart of the city.

Museums Visit
Did you know Brussels has over 125 museums spread across this beautiful city? Depending on your passions, there’s always something cool to learn. We highly recommend the Musical Instrument Museum, which is known for its collection of over 8,000 instruments. If you’re into science and innovation, the Planetarium is a must-visit, it’s one of the largest observatories in Europe with the latest projection technology. Not to mention, the famous Royal Museum of Fine Arts and the Magritte Museum, which are absolute top lists.
Thumbs Up for Beers
Cosy cafes are not your thing? Maybe a cold beer will cheer you up. Just a short walk from Grand-Place, you’ll find A La Becasse, a classic rustic bar with a great selection of authentic Belgian beers, including traditional lambic and Trappist beers. Another hidden gem is Taverne Esperance, which was established in 1930 as part of a vintage hotel, this bar will transport you back in time with its stunning Art Deco interior.

Movie Time
Cinema is always a good idea on chill days. Cinemas are scattered all over Brussels, but there are some hidden gems that offer much more than just a movie experience. For a classic vibe, UGC De Brouckere has this gorgeous Art Deco auditorium that elevates your movie experience. If you’re after something more quirky, you might try independent cinemas like Cinema Nova, which offers a very different atmosphere. The large hall retains its
Automotive Exhibition
Are you into automotive? Rainy days are the perfect excuse to explore Autoworld, an impressive indoor museum for car enthusiasts. Located in Cinquantenaire Park, it features over 250 classic and vintage cars, including the legendary models. Most interestingly, the museum also hosts special exhibitions every few months, highlighting unique themes or specific brands. It’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in the world of automobiles.
