From June 19 to 22, Brussels transforms into a vibrant hub of music, with over 500 free concerts bringing life to parks, squares, bars and galleries across the city.
The Origins of World Music Day
The Fête de la Musique was created to allow musicians of all levels to perform freely in the streets, all at the same time. The goal? To make live music accessible to everyone, especially those who may not have the financial means to attend paid concerts.
In Belgium, the Fête de la Musique has been celebrated since 1985, and it is coordinated by the Music Council. Each year, the event takes place around June 21st, aligning with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, a perfect time to fill public spaces with rhythmic musical performances.
Whether you're a professional artist or a passionate amateur, this event is an open invitation to share music and connect with the community. With concerts, outdoor performances, and a festive atmosphere, it's a day that brings music lovers together across the country and beyond.
